720MW Karot Hydropower Project is a run-of-river project being built on the Jhelum River, Rawalpindi district, Pakistan. It is being developed by Karot Power Company (KPCL), a special purpose projecct in which China Three Gorges South Asia Investment (CSAIL) holds a majority share.

Feasibility Stage: Geoengineers conducted drilling of 17 No. of boreholes with HQ & NQ Diameter with total drilling of upto 1812m, seismic survey of 60646m length, and 270no. of permeability tests. Topographic survey and Geological mapping of power house, dam site and reservoir area was also executed. Offshore core drilling was also done over river Jhelum for feasibility study. Special floating platform was fabricated for this purpose.
